I think they are both better off on the reservation. They enjoy the aspect of freedom and doing whatever they please too much to leave. However, there are still some things they miss about the civilized world. I think theywould miss thge some and promiscuity overall. BL period 4

I think that Linda and John were better off on the reservation because even though they wanted to be in the "advanced world" they could do whatever they wanted while at the reservation. When they left the reservation they should have known they would be expected to conform and i think Lind would have more issues doing so because she seemed embrace the freedom more than John.

I think they were both better off on the reservation. Linda does not fit in anymore to the civilized world because she has conceived a son. On top of that she is in another world because of the soma which seems to be having a bad effect on her character. John seems to not have changed to much he still seems not happy. However he seemed more happy on the reservation where he could freely read books that he wanted to read. He does not seem to like the fact that the teacher was denying the kids the ability to read books of their choice. KC period 1

I think John is better off because John is quite the popular and is not an outcast anymore. In this society John has people that want to associate with him, hes basically a celebrity. He seems to be getting a lot more attention, while on the other hand Linda seems to be worse off. All she seems to do is take soma and forget. I feel she was better off in the reservation.

Linda is better off in the civilized world because she grew up in the civlized world. She still practices the "customs" of the cilized world while she was living on the reservation. Linda never wanted to leave the reservation; she wanted to go back. John on the other hand is better off on the reservation because he doesn't agree with the society and what it allows in the civilized world. He wants to be accepted on the reservation. CN P.1

I think both Linda and John are better off on the reservation. Linda is an outcast for the fact that she has a child. She has trouble fitting in so she would be better off in the reservation. John has very little trouble being accepted by the people, but is still an outcast since he was born from a mother. With John and Linda on the reservation there would be much less conflict within the society.

Because Linda and John are completely opposite characters, they both belong in different places. Linda belongs in the civilized world because even when she was at the Reservation, she continued to practice her conditioning. John, however, disagrees with his mother's practices and beliefs. Despite the fact that the Indians do not accept him, John belongs on the Reservation where he is free to read Shakespeare and get away from the soma and adultery. Although Linda was born in the civilized society, she may end up on the Reservation in the end as a result of "becoming a savage," or giving birth to John. AP period 1

I believe that Linda would be happier in the "civilized" world, because she was in a miserable state at the reservation. At least when she went on the continuous soma holiday, she could have her life extinguished happily, which seems a more acceptable way to die in that society. However, John is another story. He believed that the civilized world must be so wonderful, and it would be severely disappointing to learn the truth. On the reservation, he learned about love, old age, freedom to make personal decisions, and both negative and positive experiences. The "Brave New World" is so artificial and fake compared to what he was used to, I think that if I were him, I would have gone mad. (1CW;CLM)

I think Linda and John are better off on the reservation. Although they wanted to take part in the "advanced world," they were alotted more freedom on the reservation. But in the civilized world they would have to be more responsible and not so care-free. Linda grew up more in the civilized world but she is an outcast because of her child. John belongs on the reservation because he doesn't agree with the strict set rules in the civilized world.

I believe that both Linda and John were better off at the reservation. Although John is admired as a celebrity he doesn't approve of the drug induced holidays and encouraged promiscuity. In Johns mind the human body is a temple which you should respect and give to whom you truly love.
Linda's life is literally destroyed upon returning to the new world, she begins a soma binge which eventually leaves her unconcious in the hospital. Upon arriving she is viewed as a disgusting, revolting being, not only for her outward appearance but also for the obscene act of a vivaporous birth.

I think that they are better off in the civilized world. Linda can have her happiness with soma and all. While John is an outcast on the reservation he is somewhat accepted in the civilized world because he is different and everyone wants to know him.
